Steve founded Bennett & Associates in 2002 and has a passion for helping small whanau
business owners and individuals to manage and grow their financial and accountancy
well-being. His career history includes banking, Government sector and an international
long-term secondment whilst working for Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC) managing a
team of 100. He has built up an extensive business and personal network over a 40-year
career.
Growing up in a small Northland rural community he understands small family-owned and
run businesses as well as being comfortable with advising the larger middle to corporate
level clients.
Steve is recognised in the professional, banking and legal fraternity for his experience in:
• Maori Business Development
• Insolvency and Turnaround Management
• Assurance Review and Investigation
Steve has provided his expertise to other organisations including serving on the Northland
Rugby Union Board for six years, a Councillor to the Northland Polytechnic for four years,
a Board Member of the Northland Chamber of Commerce for three years and current
National Treasurer for Lions Clubs New Zealand.
On weekends in the colder months of Northland Steve manages the Premier and Premier
Reserve rugby teams for Mid Northern Rugby Football Club (since 2013) and in summer
he enjoys fishing and boating in the Bream Bay area.
